Miss World 2013 Megan Young didn’t hold back when asked by the press about her thoughts on Miss America pageant scrapping off their swimsuit portion. In an intimate lunch with the press during her commercial shoot for Cosmo Skin, Megan fully expressed her support on the removal of the swimsuit portion saying that one of the reasons why she chose Ms. World competition is because she didn’t have to walk in a swimsuit for the pageant.
“The times are changing and so is the pageant world and I don’t see anything wrong with it if the pageants want to focus on the women’s personalities, the things that they do… I’m for it. You know, one of the reasons why I joined Miss World, aside from the philanthropy, is because they don’t have the swimsuit round,” said Megan.
Megan also said that she doesn’t feel the need for a swimsuit round. Furthermore, she reiterated that pageants are not about objectifying women, as some would like to think.
“I don’t believe that pageants are about objectification of women because at the end of the day, we do so much for the people around us. The beauty queens that I knew and have worked with have done so much for the people around them, so for other people to bring them down is such a shame, really. Ang daming mabubuting ginagawa ng mga beauty queen so why stop them from helping?”
Aside from being a full-time actress now, Megan continues to advocate for beauty and wellness, especially now that she’s the face of premium whitening supplement in the Philippines, Cosmo Skin. “Of all the different causes that I support, I am very passionate about encouraging people adapt a healthier lifestyle because health is wealth,” the 28-year-old actress and beauty queen passionately said.
Moreover, Megan said that Cosmo Skin gives her the extra boost of confidence she needs.
